Blog 54 - My First Book Signing Event Ever!!

The title says it all. I finally went to my first book signing! They are a lot of fun! The picture to the right is YA author Colleen Houck and I. I was really excited to go to this signing.

Signing Details
Author:  Colleen Houck
Date: May 19, 2012
City: Tampa, FL
Book Store: Barnes and Nobles

I am sad to say that I did not read her books prior to going to the signing. But I did have the first book, Tiger's Curse, from the series. Now that I have all of the series except for the fourth book (Tiger's Destiny). I will be reading then very soon in preparation for that book.

I found out about this author's reading/signing event from YA Rebel/blogger/writer Sarah Nicolas. Boy was I really glad that she told me about it. With a desire to be a published author myself, I felt that I needed to start going to book signings, so that in the event of my books being published, I would know what it was like to be on the fan side of a signing. Let me tell you, I was nervous as hell. I always thought that authors were like celebrities of the book publishing world, and to be standing in front of an author was like meeting a celebrity. It was very exciting!

The Barnes and Noble store had a little alcove that was normally used as a studying area, and they transformed it into a book signing area. Very efficient! At this signing, I was able to get video footage of her reading part of a secret chapter from the third book, Tiger's Voyage. I have posted that video footage on my YouTube channel. Here is the link to that video:

Colleen Houck was very sweet! She asked me about the Mummy exhibit from the MOSI center. I was wearing my souvenir shirt that day. She was really nice, signing a total of 4 books and 5 bookmarks for me. Each signed book had a different message inside! I thought that was really awesome! I would say my first book signing event was a happy, excited success!

Also at the signing, I met up with a local blogger in my area, which was awesome in itself. I got to meet Jenna from MTGReviews. She was very nice and laid back. I'm glad that I got to meet her. Towards the end of the signing Sarah, Jenna, and I all were able to get a picture with Colleen Houck! Again Awesome!

One last thing before I end this post, is I wanted to show the cover reveal for Colleen Houck's fourth book in the Tiger's Curse Saga. The title of the fourth book is Tiger's Destiny. Here is the cover:

Tiger's Destiny (Book 4 in the Tiger's Curse Series)

Isn't that just a gorgeous cover? I absolutely love it. I can't wait to see that in person. This book is set to come out on September 4, 2012. I just love the colors!I love that there is a outline of cats (tigers) near the bird's feet. The bird looks to be a Phoenix with its flaming wings. I can't wait to read this book.

Well that is all for this post. Happy Reading Everyone!
