About the Book
When Psyche receives a prophecy gone horribly wrong, she learns that even the most beautiful girl in Greece can have a hideous future. Her fate? Fall in love with the one creature even the gods fear.

As she feels herself slipping closer into the arms of the prophecy, Psyche must choose between the terrifyingly tender touch she feels almost powerless to resist and the one constant she's come to expect out of life: you cannot escape what is destined.

Destined is a fresh and heart achingly romantic retelling of the Cupid & Psyche myth from debut novelist, Jessie Harrell.

My Review
Before you read this, know that there may be spoilers. I would first like to talk about the cover of Destined by debut novelist, Jessie Harrell. I love that the cover is simple yet has elegance to it. The girl on the cover could be or is the main character, Psyche. I love that the girl has a butterfly ring on her hand, it shows symbolism that relates to the ending of the story, I think. I liked the cover very much.

Now when I read the back of the book to get a synopsis of the book, I first thought that it was going to be about witches with prophecies and everything. But then I got really excited when I saw the word Greece, and immediately thought of Greek Mythology. I love Greek Mythology! So when I read that it was a romantic retelling of Cupid and Psyche, I couldn’t wait to dive into the book and read the story.

It took me a little bit to get to know Psyche, but once she was established I fell in love with her. I felt bad for her and Chara when their parents were deciding on marrying off the two girls. I was sad when the two sisters were having their quarrels of keeping secrets from each other, and I definitely didn’t like it when Chara got her revenge on her sister.

I was sad when Chara filled Psyche’s head with “rumors” and made her think about what a monster he was, when he wasn’t. After returning home to her family, she realizes that she loves Eros. I loved when she realized that she loved Eros, she in turn set out on a journey to find Eros to explain and ask for his forgiveness, but is sent by Aphrodite on two different tests to prove her love for Eros, and in the end gets to be with immortal and with Eros on Mount Olympus. I loved reading this story. The way that Jessie Harrell captured the life of her characters, and while using Greek Mythology, has inspired me to write my piece (my book concept) and hopefully be able to share it with the world.

I would highly recommend this book to anyone who likes a good romance and anyone who likes Greek Mythology.

Well that is all from me for now. I hope to have more posts up before the end of the week. Happy reading and Happy writing!!
